TyresSheffield.co.uk privacy policy
What we collect and why
1. Searching for tyres
Whenever you look up a car by its registration, the registration and postcode you type are sent to look up your car's tyre sizes and the fitting centres nearest you. That lookup is made with our fulfilment partner, Tyres.co.uk, which holds the vehicle and fitting data; this site does not keep the search against your name, and nothing of it is kept here except the ordinary server log. Entering a tyre size instead involves no personal details, since a size is not a person.
2. The centre finder
The finder that orders centres by distance uses postcodes.io, a public postcode service, to turn your postcode into coordinates, which is how the centres are put in order of distance from you. What you type there is not saved anywhere on this site; once the list is sorted it is gone.
3. Maps and weather
Map images come from OpenStreetMap tiles, that your browser asks openstreetmap.org for directly, which means OpenStreetMap receives your IP address as any website does. The Sheffield weather panel is fetched by this site's own server from the Met Office, with MET Norway as a fallback, once for the whole city, with nothing about you in the request.
4. Cookies and logs
TyresSheffield.co.uk places neither advertising nor analytics cookies, and nothing on it tracks you, so nothing follows you around the web from here. Hosting is by Vercel, and it keeps the standard short-lived logs of IP address, browser type and the pages requested for security and to keep the site running; they are not used to identify you.
5. When you buy
Once you press buy, you leave this site and the rest of the order happens with our fulfilment partner, Tyres.co.uk. The details an order needs, name, address, payment, vehicle and the fitting booking, are collected and handled by Tyres.co.uk under Tyres.co.uk's own privacy policy, which covers how it uses that information and how you exercise your rights.
6. Reviews
The centre reviews you see here are verified buyers' reviews, supplied by Tyres.co.uk, with the author's name cut to a first name and an initial. This site does not collect reviews itself, and there is no form for it; the site only displays what Tyres.co.uk supplies.
7. Your rights and contact
Data protection law in the UK means you can ask what personal data is held about you, have it put right or removed, and object to its being used. As this site holds almost nothing, a request is most likely to be about an order, and orders are held by Tyres.co.uk; in either case, the place to start is the contact page. We may update this policy; the version published here is the one in force, with no separate notice given.
